Besides the “Shūji = Amuro” theory and the “Shūji = Amuro-like existence from the other world” theory, another interpretation gaining support—especially because Amuro has multiple female love interests throughout the “Mobile Suit Gundam” series—is that Shūji is “Amuro’s son.” As the final episode approaches, fan discussion is growing even more heated.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest installment in the “Mobile Suit Gundam” series, which began in 1979. The story follows Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), a high school girl living peacefully in a space colony, who becomes entangled in the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as “Clan Battle” after meeting a mysterious girl named Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa). Co-produced by the renowned Studio Khara (known for the “Rebuild of Evangelion” movie series) and Sunrise, the show generated significant buzz. Its theatrical premiere this January, released ahead of the TV broadcast, became a major box-office hit, drawing an impressive 3.4 billion yen. The film will be re-released in 368 theaters nationwide starting June 20.
