The Apothecary Diaries is based on the novel of the same name by Natsu Hyuuga. Set in the rear palace, the story follows a young girl named Maomao, who becomes an apothecary and poison tester. Using her knowledge of poisons and medicine, she solves various difficult incidents that occur within the palace, delivering a mystery-solving entertainment rooted in the life of the rear palace.
