“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” is the latest installment in the “Mobile Suit Gundam” series, which began in 1979. The story follows high school girl Amate Yuzuriha (CV: Tomoyo Kurosawa), living peacefully in a space colony, who becomes entangled in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition “Clan Battle” after meeting a mysterious girl named Nyaan (CV: Yui Ishikawa). The series, a co-production of Studio Khara—known for the “Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition” movies—and Sunrise, garnered attention with its theatrical premiere ahead of the TV airing in January of this year, which became a major hit with box office revenues of approximately 3.4 billion yen. The film will be re-released in 368 theaters nationwide starting June 20.
