This work is based on the manga of the same name by Mokumokuren. It won first place in the men's category of "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023" (published by Takarajimasha), and the series has surpassed 3 million copies in cumulative circulation. Set in a rural village, it is a coming-of-age horror story that begins when a best friend is replaced by "something else." The anime will be distributed exclusively worldwide on Netflix and exclusively free on ABEMA starting Saturday, July 5, with terrestrial broadcast beginning on the Nippon TV network across 30 stations in Japan.
