"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is the latest installment in the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, which began in 1979. The story follows high school girl Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), who lives peacefully in a space colony until she meets the mysterious girl Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa) and becomes involved in illegal mobile suit dueling known as Clan Battle. The joint production between Studio Khara, known for the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, and Sunrise has been highly anticipated. Its theatrical pre-release, which debuted ahead of the TV broadcast this January, achieved remarkable box office success, earning approximately 3.4 billion yen. The film is currently being re-screened at 368 theaters nationwide starting June 20.
