Report on the Advance Screening Event for "The Summer Hikaru Died" Featuring Cast & Director: Reflections on Visual Beauty and the Challenges of the Mie Dialect

On June 29, a premium advance screening event for episode 1 of the TV anime "The Summer Hikaru Died" was held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku in Tokyo. At this event, episode 1 was shown ahead of the TV broadcast, and a talk show was held with voice actors Chiaki Kobayashi (as Yoshiki Tsujinaka), Shūichirō Umeda (as Hikaru), Chikahiro Kobayashi (as Tanaka), as well as the director Ryōhei Takeshita.

"The Summer Hikaru Died" is an anime adaptation of the comic by Mokumokuren, which has surpassed 3 million copies sold (including digital). The comic is serialized in KADOKAWA's "Young Ace UP". Set in a rural village, it is a coming-of-age horror story revolving around a mysterious entity—Hikaru—that takes the form of Hikaru, who went missing in the mountains, and his friend Yoshiki.
