The Apothecary Diaries Anime Sequel Announced! Ultra Teaser PV Released – Comments from Hyuganatsu, Aoi Yūki, and Takeo Ōtsuka Arrive

The production of a sequel to the anime adaptation of The Apothecary Diaries has been announced. The final episode of Season 2, titled "Hajimari" ("Beginning"), aired on Friday, July 4, and the announcement was made immediately after during the TV broadcast. Alongside this, an ultra teaser PV for the upcoming sequel was released online.

The Apothecary Diaries is a mystery entertainment series set in the imperial harem, where the apothecary girl Maomao solves a series of difficult cases as a poison tester. In Season 2, which aired starting in January, new developments included the pregnancy of Consort Gyokuyō, Xiaolan taking a new step forward, and the arrival of a special envoy from a foreign country. Meanwhile, the dark past and hidden secrets of the harem began to stir, and Maomao found herself swept into the major incident of the rebellion by the Clan of Shi, which shook the nation. Jinshi, as the emperor’s younger brother, led the Forbidden Army and suppressed the Clan of Shi. The story reached a stopping point in episode 48.

The ultra teaser PV, released simultaneously with the announcement, begins with a scene of Jinshi receiving a piece of paper from Loulan inside a fortress. The PV is filled with scenes and keywords that serve as hints for the sequel, together with lines from Maomao and Jinshi. The phrase "The stage moves to a new land" and visuals of expansive wheat fields hint at further developments to come.
