"Chiikawa" is a popular manga series created by illustrator Nagano on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. The series won the Grand Prix in the 2022 Japan Character Awards, as well as in the 2024 Japan Character Awards announced in July 2024. Its gap between the cute little characters and the severe world they live in has made it widely popular among both children and adults, amassing over 4.13 million followers to date.

In addition, an upgraded ending sequence featuring Hachiware’s song "Hitorigotsu" accompanies the newly revamped series of the Chiikawa anime, which has been confirmed to resume broadcast. The new series will start with the episode airing around 7:40 AM in the "Mezamashi TV" program on July 15, 2025.
