Jinshi’s moves, worthy of a shoujo manga, left viewers in an uproar, with comments such as, “That way of kissing is just unfair,” “Jinshi-sama’s smug face after the kiss is great!” and “Way to go, Jinshi-sama! Do it more!!”

Currently available for binge-watching, the anime adaptation of "The Apothecary Diaries" is based on the light novel series of the same name by Hyuganatsu. The series has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines and has exceeded 40 million copies in total circulation. The TV anime aired consecutively for two cours starting in October 2023, gaining great attention and popularity thanks to Maomao’s whodunit stories as a poison tester in the inner palace and her comical exchanges with Jinshi. The second season of the anime began airing in January 2025.
