On the official X account of Khara, the studio producing the series, behind-the-scenes insights related to this particular scene were posted after the broadcast. According to a statement from company president Hideaki Anno, “For the amphibious mobile suits appearing near the end, I thought it would be good to have traces of underwater activity on-screen. Since they were merely floating on the waves, I figured it would be fine without designing anything below their shoulders, which would also ease the onsite burden, so I asked Director Tsurumaki to include them.” Furthermore, he also expressed his passion for the “Aquatic Club” by commenting, “I hope they get to be more active.”

Even with only a brief appearance, the Aquatic Club monopolized the spotlight. The Zeon Aquatic Club continues to swim proudly, even in the Reiwa era.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the newest entry in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, which began in 1979. The story follows Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), a high school girl living peacefully in a space colony, who becomes entangled in the illegal mobile suit dueling sport “Clan Battle” after meeting the mysterious girl Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa). The joint production between Studio Khara, known for the “Rebuild of Evangelion” series, and Sunrise has generated significant buzz. The theatrical premiere version, released ahead of the television series in January this year, became a major hit with box office earnings of approximately 3.4 billion yen. It has been re-released in 368 theaters nationwide as of June 20.
