Too Intense From the Very First Episode... Yugi Is Overwhelmed by "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters," But Pulls Off a Miraculous Turnaround with "Exodia the Forbidden One"!

Even those who are not hardcore fans of the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" series have likely heard of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon." In the first episode of the anime "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters," the protagonist, Yugi Muto (voiced by Shunsuke Kazama), finds himself cornered by the legendary rare card, Blue-Eyes White Dragon. However, with a miraculous reversal using "Exodia the Forbidden One," a duel to remember unfolds right from the very beginning of the series.

Currently, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters" is being streamed in a full-series release. The anime is based on the highly successful manga by Kazuki Takahashi, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha). The story follows game-loving high school student Yugi, who awakens to the "power of darkness" and engages in duels with rivals through card games and more. The series has enjoyed lasting popularity through theatrical anime releases and numerous sequel series featuring new protagonists.

In the first episode of "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters," Yugi faces Seto Kaiba (voiced by Kenjirou Tsuda), who had won his grandfather's treasured card in a duel. Yugi’s other persona, Yami no Yugi, challenges Kaiba in battle using the deck entrusted to him by Sugoroku Muto (voiced by Tadashi Miyazawa). However, Kaiba repeatedly summons Blue-Eyes White Dragon, putting Yugi in a dire situation. Among Yugi’s hand, three of the cards are bafflingly titled "Left Arm of the Forbidden One," "Right Leg of the Forbidden One," and "Left Leg of the Forbidden One." Confused, Yugi wonders, "How am I supposed to fight with these?"

Nevertheless, Yugi realizes that these cards are actually parts of Exodia. Exodia the Forbidden One is the ultimate card, allowing its user to win the battle unconditionally by assembling it together with four designated cards. Due to its unique nature, even those who aren’t familiar with the series may have heard the name Exodia.
