Ayumu Murase’s performance as Amane also garnered praise, with comments such as, "His acting was amazing, even in the serious moments."

The anime "My Dress-Up Darling" is based on the manga of the same name by Shinichi Fukuda. The story follows Wakana Gojō (voiced by Shōya Ishige), a shy high school boy, and Marin Kitagawa (voiced by Hina Suguta), a beautiful and popular gal in their class, as they grow closer through cosplay.

[Synopsis]
After learning about Amane's makeup techniques and attention to detail when crossdressing, Marin and Wakana come to appreciate the depth and joy of cosplay even more. To both of them, Amane reveals the reason he started cosplaying. Sometime after this new friendship, Wakana accompanies Marin to a photoshoot for a magazine where she works as a reader model.
