The TV anime “Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia,” scheduled to air in 2026, participated in the “TV Asahi Industry Panel” at Anime Expo 2025, a major anime convention.

The original work is a manga by Tomato Soup, currently serialized in Souffle. The story is set in the 13th-century Mongol Empire and follows the tale of Fatima (Shitala), a former slave who becomes a court lady after being taken prisoner. She meets Doregene, the sixth wife of the Mongol Emperor, and uses her wisdom to shake the empire through an epic tale of intrigue in the court. The manga has attracted much attention, having ranked first in “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023: Women’s Edition” and receiving nominations for the “Manga Taisho” in both 2023 and 2024.

The animation is being produced by Science SARU, known for works such as “DANDADAN,” “The Heike Story,” and “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!” The newly revealed visual showcases the twinkling starry sky above the vast Mongolian steppes, depicted with the studio’s signature unique style and vivid color expression.

At the event, Science SARU CEO Masanori Fujita and TV Asahi producer Kazuki Endo took the stage, sharing behind-the-scenes stories about production and their location research in Mongolia—discussions exclusive to this occasion.
