"The Summer Hikaru Died" is a coming-of-age horror anime based on the popular manga by Mokumokuren, which has surpassed 3.5 million copies in circulation. The story revolves around Yoshiki Tsujinaka (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi), a high school boy, and Hikaru—a “something” that has taken on the appearance of his close friend, Hikaru Indou (voiced by Shūichirō Umeda).
