Currently streaming in full, the anime "The Apothecary Diaries" is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines, and the series has exceeded a cumulative circulation of 40 million copies. The TV anime aired two consecutive cours starting from October 2023, gaining massive attention with its mysteries solved by Maomao—who works as a poison taster in the inner palace—and the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi.
