The currently available, binge-watchable anime “The Apothecary Diaries” is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. The work has also been adapted into manga across two monthly magazines, and the series has surpassed a cumulative circulation of 40 million copies. The TV anime aired for two consecutive cours starting in October 2023, gaining widespread popularity for its mystery-solving drama featuring Maomao, who works as a poison tester in the inner palace, as well as for the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi. The second season of the anime aired from January 2025.
