Nobuhiko Okamoto’s Big Appetite Revealed in the “Ultimate Rice Side Dish No.1” Contest: “If It’s There, I Just Eat It!”

On the ABEMA “Anime LIVE Channel,” episode #10 of “Say You To Yo Asobi Saturday” aired on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 9:00 PM.

During the opening talk and with Tanabata just around the corner, each guest revealed the wishes they had written on their Tanzaku strips. Among them, Syotaro Morikubo’s wish read, “I hope the flooding stops.” The studio was shocked, and Morikubo explained, “Before coming here, I had a rather upsetting incident... I have a workspace where I keep my instruments and equipment to compose music. I just moved last year and finally got it all set up over half a year, but when I happened to look at the floor, it was all soggy. Water is seeping in between the wall and the floor.”

Masaya Fukunishi joked, “Next time you check, maybe the whole room will be gone…” and Nobuhiko Okamoto added, “Maybe the door won’t open because of the water pressure.” Morikubo replied, “For now, I’m thinking of bringing some puppy pee pads, but I doubt it’ll be enough…” visibly worried. Okamoto asked, “Didn’t it smell?” and Morikubo said, “Surprisingly, it didn’t. Maybe it’s rainwater? Or tap water? Perhaps a water pipe burst…” adding further details. When Okamoto questioned, “Don’t you want to investigate somehow?” Morikubo admitted, “I’m too scared to go back. I’m actively avoiding reality. Let me focus on my work today… just let me be.”

Following this, Okamoto suggested, “How about ‘Yo Asobi Walkers’ go check out Morikubo’s flooded workspace…?” Morikubo replied, “You wanna come? Then maybe I shouldn’t touch anything until then.” Fukunishi commented, “I’ve never heard of a variety show visiting a flooded house before (laughs),” and in the end Okamoto and Fukunishi both expressed, “We hope everything turns out alright.”

The next segment of the show was a 90-minute gourmet special titled, “Tonight, We Can’t Stop Eating! 90-Minute Full-on Gourmet SP,” packed with various food projects. One was a taste quiz, “Hone Your Taste! Is It Real or Substitute SHOW,” where the cast guessed whether foods were authentic or substitutes. Another segment was “Let’s Try the Staff’s Recommended Chinese Diner Dishes!”

There was also a segment called “Let’s Decide the Ultimate Rice Side Dish,” where each guest brought out their favorite rice side dishes to determine the No.1 “Ultimate Rice Side Dish.” Fukunishi chose chicken nanban and pork kimchi, Okamoto picked meat with garlic soy sauce and meltingly soft braised pork, and Morikubo selected grilled salmon and ginger pork, all enjoyed together with white rice.
