The remake version of the special report footage from the anime “Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers,” scheduled to broadcast in January 2026, has been released.
“Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers” is the official sequel to the anime series “Yoroiden Samurai Troopers,” which originally aired from April 1988 through March 1989. Set in present-day Shinjuku, it features a completely original story depicting a brand new tale. When new information about the project was unveiled at the “Yoroiden Samurai Troopers” Anniversary Screening event held on Wednesday, June 11, it quickly became a hot topic on social media, taking the number one spot in both X (formerly Twitter) and Yahoo trends.
Directing the project is Yoichi Fujita, known for “Gintama” and “Mr. Osomatsu.” Series composition and script is handled by Shogo Muto, acclaimed for his work on “Kamen Rider Build,” the film “Crows Zero,” as well as “Thermae Romae.” Main character design is by Yuhei Murota, who has designed characters for “Love Live!,” “Love Live! Sunshine!!,” and most recently for the TV anime “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.”
The original concept for the Yoroi Gear design is by Hideo Okamoto, who designed the armors in “Yoroiden Samurai Troopers” and has recently worked on kaiju designs for “SSSS.DYNAZENON.” A star-studded staff lineup is joining the project. The main character, Gai, will be voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi, known for portraying the protagonist Miguel in the Disney/Pixar film “Coco,” which drew much attention.
In the remake version of the special report footage that was released, in addition to the protagonist Gai, the other Samurai Troopers appear in a way that conceals their faces. During the arming scenes, along with Gai’s “Blazing Heat,” new arming scenes for four other Samurai Troopers—“Water Curtain,” “Wilderness,” “Azure Sky,” and “Flash of Light”—have been added.
Additionally, the newly revealed character silhouette images show both the pre-armed character silhouettes and the post-armored forms of each Samurai Trooper, along with the initials of the voice actors assigned to each character.
