“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” is the latest entry in the “Mobile Suit Gundam” franchise, which began in 1979. The story follows high school girl Amate Yuzuriha, who lives peacefully in a space colony, but gets swept into the illicit mobile suit dueling sport called “Clan Battle” after a fateful encounter with the mysterious Nyaan.

Co-produced by Studio Khara, known for the “Rebuild of Evangelion” series, and Sunrise, the show became a hot topic even before its regular broadcast. The theatrical version, released in January of this year ahead of the TV series, was a huge box office hit, earning roughly 3.4 billion yen. Even after the 12-episode TV run concluded in June, new merchandise continues to roll out, and the original soundtrack is set to release on August 27, keeping anticipation high. In July, a special event was held at “Anime Expo 2025,” North America’s largest anime convention in Los Angeles.
