“Chiikawa” is a popular manga series by illustrator Nagano, which began serialization on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. It won the Grand Prize in the “Japan Character Award 2022” and once again in the “Japan Character Award 2024,” announced in July 2024. The contrast between the tiny, cute characters and their harsh world has earned it a broad fanbase among both adults and children, with the number of followers surpassing 4.19 million to date.
The new series of the “Chiikawa” anime is currently airing within the “Mezamashi TV” program on Fuji TV Network from July 15, 2025. In addition, on July 28, an experiential facility, “Chiikawa Park,” opened at Ikebukuro Sunshine City Annex.
