The anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is based on the manga of the same name serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020 by Koyoharu Gotouge. Set in the Taisho era, the story depicts the battles of a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was slaughtered by demons. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, instantly became a sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," has surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The original manga's cumulative worldwide circulation has now reached 220 million copies, making it a massive hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime has aired the "Entertainment District Arc," the "Swordsmith Village Arc," and the "Hashira Training Arc." It has also been announced that the climactic episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," will be adapted into a trilogy. The first installment, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza's Return," which has been showing since July 18, 2025, has already surpassed 28 billion yen at the box office in just 38 days.
