A Button Becomes a Terrifying Weapon in the Hands of an Assassin... How a Simple Button Turned into a Deadly Tool in “SPY x FAMILY”

Who knew that a clothing button could become a weapon when used like that...? Viewers will be amazed at the scene where Yor Forger (voiced by Saori Hayami), a top-class assassin, uses a button as a projectile weapon and takes down an enemy in a single blow.

Yor is usually gentle and laid-back, but in reality, she is a highly skilled assassin with some of the best combat abilities in the series. In episode 31, Yor is assigned as a bodyguard to Olka Gretcher (voiced by Aya Endo) and others as they attempt to escape overseas on a luxury cruise ship.

In the lounge, surrounded by numerous guests, Yor senses a hostile presence. She judges that “causing a commotion by attacking and killing the enemy would be a problem,” and quickly rips a button off a nearby man's jacket with a polite “Excuse me!” She then throws the button at the enemy, and it hits its mark with bullet-like speed. The opponent is instantly knocked out.

Yor's swift and silent takedown of her enemy without causing a scene sparked a flurry of astonished reactions online, such as, “She’s practically superhuman...,” “Yor’s assassination technique is incredible, LOL,” “A button becomes a bullet in Yor Forger’s hands—amazing,” and “When Mom uses it, even a button can become a deadly throwing weapon.”

The currently streaming anime “SPY×FAMILY” is based on the manga by Tatsuya Endo, serialized in Shonen Jump+ (Shueisha). This action-comedy series follows master spy Loid Forger (voiced by Takuya Eguchi), who goes undercover as a psychiatrist for a secret mission. He lives as a pretend family with his assassin wife Yor Forger, and their daughter Anya Forger (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki), who has telepathic powers—each concealing their true identities. The TV anime’s Season 1 aired in 2022, Season 2 in 2023, and Season 3 is scheduled to begin airing in October 2025.
