Catfight Over Maomao Breaks Out! Jinshi’s Bold and Daring Move Against Gyokuyō in "The Apothecary Diaries"

Did things heat up in the battle to win over Maomao (CV: Aoi Yūki)? Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka) displayed openly bold behavior, almost as if to flaunt it to those around him, which had viewers excitedly saying things like, “I can’t stop grinning,” and “I love this sudden sense of closeness!”

Gyokuyō (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) is the high-ranking consort whom Maomao serves as a poison-taster. In episode 38, Gyokuyō and Jinshi both try to claim Maomao for themselves. When Jinshi smiles and says, “May I have her (Maomao) back?” Gyokuyō gently corrects him, replying, “If you want to ‘borrow’ her, you may.”

However, Jinshi stands his ground and replies, “No, I mean ‘give her back.’ This Maomao,” as he touches Maomao’s head, astonishing everyone present. He then confidently adds, “No matter what you ask this girl after she comes back, it will be pointless. I’ll make sure she keeps her mouth shut,” and proceeds to touch Maomao’s lips with his finger.
