Natsuki Hanae, the voice actor for Tanjirō, was also deeply moved by this scene. On the official Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba WEB radio program "Kimetsu Radio," he passionately commented, “I was like, ‘What is this?!’ The quality was so high, I regretted watching it on a laptop. I bawled my eyes out. Even though I was the one acting, it was just amazing! I couldn’t even blink! It was so incredible, I watched it frame by frame.”
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series is adapted from the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotouge, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2016 to 2020. It tells the story of Tanjirō Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by demons, set against the backdrop of the Taisho era. The TV anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc, which began airing in April 2019, rapidly gained attention, and its sequel, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The cumulative global print run of the original manga has now reached 220 million copies, cementing its place as a monumental hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the Unwavering Resolve Arc, the TV anime continued with the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc, while it has been announced that the climactic episodes, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, will be produced as a trilogy. The first installment, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle – Akaza’s Reappearance, which premiered on July 18, 2025, has already surpassed 25.7 billion yen in box office revenue within the first month of its release.
