The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it follows the story of Tanjirō Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons as he fights for revenge. The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which began airing in April 2019, immediately became a hot topic. The sequel film "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train" surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office earnings. Now, the total global circulation of the original manga has reached 220 million copies, marking it as one of the greatest hits in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” the TV anime continued with the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc,” “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc.” The final arc, adapted into a trilogy as “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” was announced. Part one, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Akaza’s Return,” which opened on July 18, 2025, has already surpassed 25.7 billion yen at the box office in just one month.
