It won the Grand Prix at both the "Japan Character Awards 2022" and the "Japan Character Awards 2024" announced in July 2024. The gap between the tiny, cute characters and the harsh world setting has earned it popularity across generations, from kids to adults, with its follower count now exceeding 4.19 million.

The new series of the "Chiikawa" anime has been airing within Fuji TV’s "Mezamashi TV" since July 15, 2025. Additionally, on July 28, the interactive facility "Chiikawa Park" opened at Ikebukuro Sunshine City's Annex.
