Tomokazu Seki & Reiji Kawashima Challenge the Art of Making Unique Geta! Who Showed Off Their Craftsmanship?

■Challenging the World of Craftsmanship! Two in Yukata Handcraft "One-of-a-Kind Geta"!

In line with "Cool Summer Week," Seki appeared in a white yukata with vertical stripes, while Kawashima wore a unique denim-themed yukata, which drew reactions from viewers such as "Seki looks great in traditional wear," "Reiji's yukata is stylish," and "Both look wonderful!"

The program's theme was "Let's Create an Original Geta that Matches Yukata Perfectly!" Under the guidance of geta craftsman Yoshitaka Kobayashi, the two learned about the shapes and types of geta while selecting their boards. Seki chose the "Senryo Geta," favored by actors in the past, and Kawashima opted for the modern "Funagata Geta," which can easily match everyday clothing.

As they began working, Seki utilized his dexterity, carefully advancing through the unfamiliar processes of drilling holes and fixing the straps. Meanwhile, Kawashima struggled with the strap-fixing process, experimenting with comments like "Oh, it's loose," and "Maybe it's not tight enough." There were moments when Seki assisted Kawashima, and viewers commented on Seki’s calm demeanor with remarks like "Seki is such a gentleman!" "So kind!" and "Daddy!"

Finally, after adjustments by the instructor, their original geta were completed. Initially, Seki expressed his admiration for scenarios like "rushing to fix a broken strap for a girl on the street," but after experiencing the difficulty of the task, he remarked, "I thought it would be nice to replace a girl's strap, but this is tough."

After completing their geta, they wore them outside the studio. Seki said, "Thanks to the instructor's adjustments, they're comfortable! They're fit for an actor to wear!" and added, "It's nice to have both yukata and geta." Kawashima also expressed his affection for his handmade geta, saying, "They’re chic. They go well with denim!" and "I'm happy. I might wear them to the set."
