The anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of a boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by demons, as he embarks on a journey of vengeance. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," has surpassed a total worldwide box office revenue of 50 billion yen. The original manga has now reached a cumulative total of 220 million copies published worldwide, making it a record-breaking hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

The TV anime series continued with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc" following the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc." It has been announced that the final episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," will be produced as a trilogy. The first chapter, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle- Act 1: Akaza Returns," which has been playing in theaters since July 18, 2025, has already surpassed 25.7 billion yen in box office revenue within one month of its release.
