Despite the dire situation, many viewers found Nezuko’s actions heartwarming. Reactions included comments like, “I love Nezuko in this scene!” and “Nezuko is so cute, headbutting Tanjiro after he won’t wake up even when she makes him pat her head.”
The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. Set during the Taisho era, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy fighting after his family is slain by demons. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The original manga has reached a cumulative worldwide circulation of 220 million copies, making it a monumental hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime continued with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc." The final episodes, comprising "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," will be produced as a trilogy. The first part, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle: Akaza Returns," which opened on July 18, 2025, has already earned over 29.9 billion yen at the box office in just 45 days.
