The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of a boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by a demon. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" started airing in April 2019 and quickly became a hot topic. The sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," has grossed over 50 billion yen worldwide. The original manga has now sold a total of 220 million copies worldwide, making it a huge hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc", the TV anime has aired the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc", "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc", and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc", and it has been announced that the final episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" will be produced in three parts. The currently running "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1—Akaza Returns", which opened on July 18, 2025, has recorded over 29.9 billion yen in box office revenue in just 45 days of release.
