Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who battles demons after his family is killed. The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which began airing in April 2019, instantly became a hot topic, and its sequel, “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train,” surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. As of now, the manga’s total worldwide circulation has reached 220 million copies, making it a record-breaking hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” the TV anime continued with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc,” while the concluding episodes titled “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle” were announced as a trilogy. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: The Return of Akaza,” which debuted on July 18, 2025, has already grossed over 29.9 billion yen in its first 45 days.
