In the “Let's Eat Exquisite Jelly!” segment, an array of jellies were presented, including “dagashi jelly” (cheap snack jelly), “alcohol jelly,” and “tomato jelly,” which both hosts sampled. Recalling the previous “Let's Eat Exquisite Shaved Ice!” segment, Hiroki Yasumoto commented, “We're calling this exquisite, but last week we had some amazing shaved ice,” expressing his concern that his “taste bar” had been raised. Chiaki Kobayashi responded, “Your taste buds are pretty wild right now, Yasumoto-san. They're really sharp.”
First, the two picked up “dagashi jelly.” Yasumoto, familiar with the classic spiral jelly, noted, “This has been around since I was a little kid,” and demonstrated his childhood way of eating it. On the other hand, Kobayashi, who was born in the Heisei era, fumbled with how to open it, prompting Yasumoto to advise, “You bite the tip and turn it round and round with your teeth.”
Next up was alcohol jelly. Kobayashi chose the “Sake Jelly Kiri no Hana,” while Yasumoto selected “Sake Jelly Chikoma (Seishu).” Yasumoto then noticed that the Kiri no Hana jelly was made with makgeolli (a Korean rice wine) and repeatedly pronounced “Makgeolli!” in a unique way. Kobayashi quickly quipped, “Don't lie! You’ve never said that before, Yasumoto-san.” Both enjoyed tasting the sake jellies, exclaiming, “Delicious! You can taste the sake, but it still has the sweetness of jelly!” During their tasting, Kobayashi also pointed out a difference in pronunciation, calling out, “Doubt!” in a playful exchange.
Yasumoto then playfully placed red dagashi jelly under his nose and joked, “Look, I got a nosebleed,” showing his boyish side. Kobayashi responded, “There it is! The Elementary School Boy-Man! You don’t need to act like an elementary schooler right before 11 PM on Monday!” eliciting laughter throughout the studio. Other varieties, such as “tomato jelly,” “soy sauce jelly,” and “home-grown coffee jelly,” also made an appearance. When a giant bucket-sized jelly made its debut, Yasumoto and Kobayashi worked together to transfer it into a container, maintaining a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere the entire time.
