[Photos/Images] Legendary “KochiKame” Creator Osamu Akimoto Confirmed as First Guest! Must-Listen Manga Podcast “Manga no Radio” Returns 1st

The Nippon Broadcasting podcast “Manga no Radio,” which ended in May, has been confirmed to restart this September as “Manga no Radio supported by viviON.” The first episode will be distributed around 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 7.

Yoshida Hisanori (Nippon Broadcasting announcer), also known as a founder of the Manga Taisho awards, will continue as the host. Maintaining the original show’s concept, each month a manga artist will be invited as a guest for in-depth discussions focused solely on the world of manga.

Osamu Akimoto, the creator of “KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops,” known in Japanese as “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo” or simply “KochiKame,” has been announced as the first guest. The show will feature interviews approached from Yoshida’s unique perspective, exploring various topics such as how “KochiKame” was created and how it continued for forty years without a single break.

Furthermore, this podcast will utilize “Linguiine!,” a tool developed by Nippon Broadcasting that can convert Japanese audio into multiple languages, to simultaneously release an English-language edition. This will serve as a springboard for promoting manga culture internationally.

In addition, with the program’s relaunch, official homepage and X (formerly Twitter) accounts have been established. Information about upcoming guests and further details will be announced on the official X account as they become available. Listeners can also check the archives of previous episodes.
