Jujutsu Kaisen Official Popularity Polls: Who Are the Top Characters from the 1st to 4th Polls? [2026 Latest Edition]

Weekly Shonen Jump serialized Jujutsu Kaisen (written and illustrated by Gege Akutami), a massively popular battle manga depicting the struggles of Jujutsu Sorcerers. The original manga has been released up to Volume 30. It reached its final chapter (Chapter 271) in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44 (Shueisha), released on September 30, 2024, and the series has surpassed 150 million copies in circulation worldwide (including both print and digital editions).

In this article, we will look back at the results of the past four official popularity polls announced in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, picking out the top characters. Be sure to check and see where your favorite characters ranked!

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuji Itadori, a high school student with extraordinary physical abilities, swallows a Special Grade cursed object, Ryomen Sukuna's Finger, to save his friends from a curse, housing the curse within his own soul. Recognizing his talent, Satoru Gojo, the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer, has him enroll in Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he throws himself into battle alongside his peers as a Jujutsu Sorcerer—this is the basic premise of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.

The first season of the TV anime aired starting in October 2020, followed by the release of the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on December 24, 2021. The blockbuster movie surpassed 13.7 billion yen in box office revenue, and the second season of the TV anime aired starting in July 2023. The third season, Culling Game Part 1, aired starting in January 2026.

Furthermore, starting in September 2025, a near-future spin-off titled Jujutsu Kaisen ≡ (Modulo), written by Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, was published as a short-term intensive serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump and has concluded.

In the first popularity poll, the protagonist Yuji secured 1st place by a narrow margin. Following closely behind, other fan-favorites like Megumi, Satoru, and Toge firmly held the subsequent top spots.

Picking out some major characters below 30th place, Hanami landed at 32nd with 407 votes, Masamichi Yaga at 40th with 233 votes, and Mei Mei at 47th with 163 votes.

2nd Popularity Poll Results

The results of the 2nd popularity poll were announced in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 2 (2022), drawing a total of 97,860 votes. The detailed breakdown below 30th place is available in Volume 19 of the manga, so check it out if you'd like to see the full results.

Since the 2nd popularity poll was primarily conducted via postcards using mail-in coupons from Weekly Shonen Jump and the printed manga volumes, the overall vote count dropped compared to the first poll. Even so, it still managed to pull in nearly 100,000 votes.

In the 2nd popularity poll, Megumi overtook the protagonist Yuji to claim 1st place, while characters who hadn't yet appeared in the first season of the anime, such as Toji Zen'in and Naoya Zen'in, broke into the top 10. Additionally, Suguru Geto, who played a central role in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, made a massive leap from his previous 15th place up to 4th.

Among the characters who narrowly missed the top 30, Momo Nishimiya landed at 32nd with 81 votes, and Nobuko Takada (aka Takada-chan) took 33rd with 78 votes. As for other characters who had appeared in the TV anime, Hanami ranked 41st with 39 votes, and Akari Nitta ranked 46th with 31 votes.

3rd Popularity Poll Results

The results of the 3rd popularity poll were announced in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31 (2023), totaling 96,704 votes. Detailed results below 30th place were published in the same issue, released on July 3, 2023. If you missed that window, you can read it via the digital bookstore platform Zebrack. Additionally, Volume 26 of the manga, released on April 4, 2024, includes a recompiled version of these results.

The 3rd popularity poll accepted submissions via mail-in postcards from Weekly Shonen Jump and the physical manga volumes, as well as digital voting through the electronic version of Weekly Shonen Jump. The final vote count ended up almost identical to the 2nd poll.

In the 3rd popularity poll, Megumi Fushiguro held onto his crown at 1st place. The most notable detail here is his vote count: despite maintaining the same top position, he racked up over 10,000 more votes than last time, clearly showing how fans have rallied heavily behind him.

While there were no drastic overhauls among the rest of the top 30, several characters who hadn't yet debuted in the anime managed to chart. On the other hand, series creator Gege Akutami, who took 21st place in the 2nd poll, dropped to 33rd, and Rika Orimoto slid down to 41st from her 30th-place finish in the last poll.

4th Popularity Poll Results

To commemorate the 6th anniversary of Jujutsu Kaisen, the 4th character popularity poll was held. An early flash report revealing the top three characters was released on June 10, 2024, followed by the complete results in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 39 (2024).The top 30 rankings are as follows:

The total number of votes reached 264,298. The full results below 10th place were published in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 39 (2024) and Volume 28 of the manga, which hit shelves on October 4, 2024. Furthermore, exclusive newly drawn illustrations of the top three characters were unveiled at the Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition, which opened on July 6, 2024.

In the 4th popularity poll, Satoru Gojo triumphantly claimed 1st place. The total pool of votes more than doubled since the previous 3rd poll, and Satoru's personal tally exploded to roughly ten times his 3rd-poll count of 11,591. On top of that, he secured more than twice the votes of the 2nd-place finisher (48,131), showcasing his absolutely overwhelming dominance in popularity.

Much like the 3rd poll, there were no major shake-ups among the top 30 characters, but Kenjaku and Fumihiko Takaba—neither of whom had appeared by the end of the anime's second season—made their debut rankings at 22nd and 24th place, respectively.

4th Popularity Poll Voting Guidelines and Details

The voting period ran from March to April 18, 2024. Submissions were accepted either through physical mail-in postcards or digitally via the online portal for the electronic edition.
