"Chiikawa" is a popular manga posted on X (formerly Twitter) by illustrator Nagano since 2020. It won the Grand Prix at the Japan Character Awards 2022 and again at the Japan Character Awards 2024, announced in July 2024. The gap between the small, cute characters and the somewhat grim world setting has won it broad popularity from adults to children, amassing more than 4.23 million followers to date.
The new series of the anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing as part of Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" from July 15, 2025. Furthermore, on July 28, an interactive facility called "Chiikawa Park" opened at Sunshine City Annex in Ikebukuro.
