The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of a boy named Tanjiro Kamado whose family is slaughtered by demons, and his ensuing fight. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation, while the sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The total number of copies of the original manga in circulation now exceeds 220 million worldwide, making it a record-breaking hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

The TV anime has continued after the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc." The climactic "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" is being produced as a trilogy. The first installment, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1 Akaza Reborn," released on July 18, 2025, has recorded over 31.4 billion yen in box office revenue within 52 days of release.
