The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of a young boy, Tanjirō Kamado, who fights after his family is killed by demons.
The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" began broadcasting in April 2019 and quickly became a sensation, while its sequel "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train" surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. As of now, the cumulative circulation of the original manga worldwide has reached 220 million copies, making it a massive hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime continued with the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc," "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc." The epic finale, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," is being produced as a trilogy. The first installment, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Chapter 1: Akaza’s Return," released on July 18, 2025, has recorded a box office revenue of over 31.4 billion yen in just 52 days.
