The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. It tells the story of Tanjiro, a boy whose family was killed by demons, as he battles during the Taisho era.

The first TV anime adaptation, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc", which aired starting in April 2019, quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train", surpassed 50 billion yen in global box office revenue. The cumulative worldwide circulation of the original manga has now reached 220 million copies, making it a phenomenal hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc", the TV anime continued with the "Mugen Train Arc", the "Entertainment District Arc", the "Swordsmith Village Arc", and the "Hashira Training Arc". The climactic "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" is being produced as a three-part film series. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza's Return," released on July 18, 2025, earned over 33 billion yen in its first 60 days. With international releases steadily rolling out, the worldwide total box office, including Japan, has surpassed 68 billion yen.
