The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set during the Taisho era, the story follows a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado, who battles demons after his family is slaughtered.

The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" began airing in April 2019 and quickly became a sensation. Its sequel film, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The original manga has now reached a cumulative worldwide circulation of 220 million copies, marking it as a massive hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime continued with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc." It was announced that the final episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," would be produced as a trilogy. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza Returns," in theaters since July 18, 2025, achieved more than 33 billion yen in revenue within its first 60 days. Overseas releases are rolling out sequentially, and the film has surpassed 68 billion yen in total worldwide box office revenue, including Japan.
