—— What were the main points you wanted to express with this cosplay?
Otose: This time, instead of Kongou’s regular outfit, I wore her race queen costume. This outfit, unlike her look on the battlefield, represents a setting without artillery fire or torpedoes—a peaceful place. With that in mind, I tried to keep Kongou’s signature flair while focusing on poses that emphasized her cuteness and femininity.
—— Could you tell us when and how you discovered "KanColle," as well as what aspects you find appealing?
Otose: It all started in my first year of junior high when the first season of the "KanColle" anime popped up in my recommendations on a streaming site. At the time, I was really into "Girls und Panzer" and was searching for similar shows, so I ended up watching it and immediately got hooked.
In "KanColle," due to the game’s mechanics, you can actually lose your ship girls (characters). Because of that, you end up caring for them even more and raising them with a lot of affection, which deepens your love for each ship girl. The game’s unique mechanics, which are rare these days, and the diverse personalities of the girls are really what draw me in and make it so charming.
—— Do you have any messages related to your activities?
Otose: There are still so many characters I want to portray, so I hope to keep enjoying cosplay at my own pace from here on out.
—— Thank you very much!
Otose presented a cosplay that highlighted Kongou’s feminine side. With her fresh perspective, we are excited to see the future cosplays she takes on.
