The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, as he battles them. The TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a hot topic, and the sequel, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed a worldwide box office revenue of 50 billion yen. The total worldwide circulation of the original manga now stands at 220 million copies, making it a monumental hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following "Unwavering Resolve Arc" on TV, "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc" were aired. The climactic episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc," were announced as a trilogy of theatrical films. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc –Part 1: Akaza Returns," released on July 18, 2025, recorded box office revenue exceeding 34 billion yen in 66 days.
