This series is based on the manga "YAIBA" created by Gosho Aoyama, the mastermind behind hit works such as "Detective Conan", "Magic Kaito", and "Fourth Batter, Third Baseman". "YAIBA" was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday from issue 39 in 1988 to issue 50 in 1993. It is an action-adventure story where wild samurai boy Yaiba Kurogane (voiced by Minami Takayama) pursues ever greater strength with unwavering samurai spirit, and its 24 volumes boast a total circulation of 17 million copies. The TV anime adaptation, "YAIBA Samurai Legend," has been airing nationwide on the Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV networks, occupying the Saturday 5:30 p.m. timeslot since April 5.
