Cosplaying Fa Yuiry from "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam": Focusing on "Girlish, Ephemeral Posing"

——What aspects did you want to express with this cosplay?

Muu: I think the wig and makeup came really close to the Fa I wanted to portray, so I'm very happy with that. Since I live in Osaka and had to travel by overnight bus, I had to prepare everything last minute within a tight schedule, so honestly, it was really close.

For the costume, Fa’s outfit generally uses somewhat thick fabric, but since this was for the midsummer, I went out of my way to visit a fabric shop a little farther away to find a cool-feeling knit in a beautiful color.

For my poses, I tried to bring out an ordinary girlish quality. "Gundam" equals war, and Fa's organization is involved in combat, but it’s not by choice—she’s an ordinary girl who got caught up in the war.

Within "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam," Fa is one of the few characters able to express a soft atmosphere in such dire circumstances, so for solo shoots as Fa, I'm conscious of creating poses that feel girly and ephemeral.

——When did you first engage with "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam," and what attracted you to it?

Muu: My parents loved "Gundam," so it was always around me as far back as I can remember. I got really into Gunpla too, and I was building models since I was in elementary school, though at that time, I only grasped the feel of the story and the characters. Once I grew older and revisited "Gundam," I was always amazed.

The detailed setting and the way the story develops, as well as perspectives on the characters, change every time you watch it, so there are always new discoveries no matter how many times you revisit "Gundam." I think that’s the franchise’s greatest appeal.

——Are there any cosplays you’d like to try in the future?

Muu: I plan to keep doing more from the "Gundam" series, as well as works like "Code Geass" and "Macross Frontier."
