During the opening, as a report on their past four weeks, Maria Naganawa shared stories from her business trip to New York, and Yu Serizawa recapped her recent live performance. When prompted by the Monday MC to “Please give an even more detailed self-introduction,” Naganawa openly declared her love of junk food, listing potatoes, cheese, and pizza as her favorites. She also revealed her minimalist lifestyle: “I’m not interested in furniture, so my room looks just like the starting room in Animal Crossing,” and, “I still use the furniture from when I first moved to Tokyo and lived in a six-mat single room. I don’t lay out a carpet because it just gets in the way when I clean.”

Reacting to this, Serizawa exclaimed, “Wait, Maria, your actual house is in a starter state!? But your room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is amazing!” Naganawa explained, “I can put effort into my Animal Crossing house, but when it comes to my real room…” highlighting the gap between her in-game and real-life aesthetics. Viewers chimed in with comments such as “Starter-room vibes lol,” “That’s quite a gap!” “Maria the minimalist,” and “She tries harder in Animal Crossing lol.”
