A special original art exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of the illustrious manga artist Paru Itagaki—renowned for works such as “BEASTARS,” “SANDA,” and “Taika no Risei”—is set to take place in March 2026. An advance reveal of a line drawing illustration featuring Regoshi, the protagonist of “BEASTARS,” has also been made public.

Paru Itagaki debuted as a manga artist in March 2016 with a series of four consecutive one-shots titled “BEAST COMPLEX” published in “Weekly Shonen Champion” (Akita Shoten). In September of the same year, she began serialization of her first long-form work, “BEASTARS,” in the same magazine. Following this, she received major manga awards, including the New Face Award at the 21st Japan Media Arts Festival’s Manga Division, the Grand Prize at the 11th Manga Taisho, and the New Creator Prize at the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, among others.

In January 2021, serialization of “SANDA” started in “Weekly Shonen Champion,” and a TV anime adaptation is scheduled to begin airing in October 2025. Currently, her latest works “Taika no Risei” (Weekly Shonen Champion, Akita Shoten) and “Ushimitsu Gao” (Champion Cross, Akita Shoten) have been serialized since January 2025.

The upcoming exhibition will feature a wide array of valuable original illustrations selected from works including “BEASTARS,” allowing visitors to fully appreciate the trajectory of Paru Itagaki’s decade-long career. Additionally, an exhibition shop corner will offer exclusive event merchandise.

Message from Paru Itagaki:
Thanks to all of my readers, I am able to hold an original art exhibition for my 10th anniversary. Thank you so much. The reason I don’t feel an overly strong sense of accomplishment might be because these past 10 years have simply been a lot of fun for me. I tend to work in a rough and ready way, so my original drawings aren’t particularly delicate (the backgrounds done by my staff are amazing though). There are quite a few corrections for my mistakes, and my lines are rough as well. But I think my enjoyment while drawing definitely comes through! Please do come and see Paru Itagaki’s original art exhibition.
