Special Movie for “The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity” Surpasses 8 Million Copies Sold! Newspaper Advertisement Featuring the Language of Flowers from All 47 Prefectures Published Nationwide

A special newspaper advertisement and special movie expressing gratitude to everyone who supported the TV anime of “The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity,” which reached its final episode on September 27, 2025, have been released.

“The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity” is based on the manga by Saka Mikami, currently serialized in the official Weekly Shonen Magazine app, “Magazine Pocket.”

This vibrant and youthful school story follows Rintarō Tsumugi, a naive boy attending an all-boys school infamous for gathering fools, and Kaoruko Waguri, an earnest girl from a prestigious girls’ school. The TV anime adaptation, which began airing in July, garnered significant attention for its delicate animation, expertly crafted by CloverWorks, a studio known for producing numerous masterpieces.

The original comics saw an increase of about 2 million copies within the first two months of the TV anime broadcast, and the three consecutive monthly comic releases further propelled growth, adding another 500,000 copies in the latest month. The total circulation has now surpassed 8 million copies. On October 9, the third month of the unprecedented three-month consecutive release, Volume 20 will be available.

The special movie features Honoka Inoue as Kaoruko Waguri and Yoshinori Nakayama as Rintarō Tsumugi. Within the video, the phrase “thank you”—which appears over 250 times in the series—is used strikingly, with heartfelt exchanges between Kaoruko and Rintarō gently conveying their feelings to the audience. This makes for an unconventional presentation as a promotional video for the manga.
