"I Trained at a Kickboxing Gym for the Midriff-Baring Costume": Blue Mary Cosplay from Fatal Fury

— What inspired you to cosplay as Blue Mary from Fatal Fury this time?

Blue Mary: I originally loved the main character of Fatal Fury, Terry Bogard, and often used him when playing fighting games ☆. Later, Blue Mary, who is often involved with Terry, appeared in the series, and I thought she was so cool and cute ☆, so I decided to try cosplaying as Mary! ★

— What were the key points you wanted to express or paid special attention to in this cosplay?

Mary: Mary is a super bright and cool girl ☆, but the techniques she uses are incredibly acrobatic (lol). I tried to be mindful of the signature poses seen in the game ♪ Although, naturally, I couldn't pull off the special moves that involve flying or leaping high into the air (lol).

The costume is super simple: a red tank top and denim pants with Mary's logo ☆. I also paired it with Terry's cap! I was so excited to create a Mary & Terry matching outfit ★. Also, since it's an outfit that shows off my midriff, I trained at the kickboxing gym I usually attend ☆.

— What was your initial exposure to Fatal Fury and what do you find appealing about the series?

Mary: When I was a student, there was a Fatal Fury arcade game machine at a game store nearby, and that's when I started playing against my friends using Terry Bogard and having a blast ★.

Since then, I've loved Fatal Fury. Mary & Terry are the ultimate couple for me ☆. I always get energy from the bright and flashy Mary and the strong and positive Terry ★. With a new Fatal Fury title out recently, and collaborations with other fighting games coming to fruition, I couldn't be more excited to see their continued success ☆.
