"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been serialized as manga in two monthly magazines. The series gained significant popularity and became a hot topic with its mystery-solving drama featuring Maomao working as a "poison tester" in the rear palace, as well as the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi. The TV anime has aired up to its second season, and the third season has been announced to air in split two-cours starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled to be released in December 2026.
