"Chiikawa" is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano began serializing on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. It won the Grand Prix at the "Japan Character Award 2022" and the "Japan Character Award 2024," announced in July 2024. The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh worldview has gained wide popularity among adults and children alike, and its followers have now surpassed 4.38 million.

A new series of the anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing on Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" block starting in July 2025. Additionally, the first theatrical film for "Chiikawa," titled "Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu," is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.
