It is an epic historical drama set in China during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, depicting the exploits of the young boy Shin (CV: Masakazu Morita), who aims to become the greatest general under heaven, and the young king Ei Sei (CV: Jun Fukuyama), who would later become the First Emperor. The TV anime's first series began broadcasting in 2012, and the fourth live-action film installment, "Kingdom: The Return of the Great General," released in 2024, recorded box office earnings of 8 billion yen.
